For over two decades, Kurt Lutgert has led a real estate development firm based in Naples, Florida. Outside of his activities in real estate, Kurt Lutgert works as an author, philosopher, and speaker focused on spiritual development. He also dedicates his time and resources to various nonprofit organizations, including Heifer International.

Heifer International provides livestock and agricultural training to help improve the lives of individuals and families in poverty-stricken areas around the globe. To help raise awareness of its ongoing mission in Africa, the organization recently appointed its first-ever celebrity ambassador to the continent.

An Emmy Award-winning actress, Uzo Aduba began her term as Heifer’s Ambassador to Africa in June 2018. The Orange Is the New Black star was appointed ambassador based on her commitment to Heifer’s mission, which she has demonstrated through her volunteer work with the organization.

Aduba took her first Heifer trip to Uganda in 2016 and returned to the country two years later to check on the progress of a community-owned dairy center and a local family farm she had previously visited. She also advocates for Heifer International in the United States and attends the organization’s annual Beyond Hunger gala.

As ambassador, Aduba will continue to raise awareness for the organization while mobilizing support for the small-scale African farmers Heifer helps to become more self-reliant. She will serve as Heifer’s ambassador through June 2020.
